Rebecca Ireland has dropped her latest video “Mountains”
Much loved darling of Mullumbimby Folk Festival and Bellingen Winter Festival, Rebecca Ireland has shifted gear from her usual style and released a ‘heavier’ sound with latest release “Mountains”.
“Written whilst driving through the Rocky Mountains in Canada last year, I was totally in awe of the immensity of the mountains; giant ancient faces of wisdom. Coming from a fractured Irish background, I always felt a loss and lack of belonging. The stark reminder of that when we drove down onto the flats of a reservation and hit a Timmy’s donut shop, that I’m just a white girl in a Kmart shirt in the middle of another lost culture. My great grandmother was Cherokee and I felt so saddened for the whole world. For all our loss and longing. And yet there were those amazing faces in the Mountains staring down at me. We have the answers. We are the Mountains”. Rebecca Ireland
